about
Born in London, raised in Kent, Lisa Thomson's art reflects the blend of urban and coastal influences that shaped her. The dynamic energy of city life fuels her vibrant and diverse use of colour.
With a background in Fine Art and a degree in Woven Textile Design from the University of Brighton, Lisa has honed her skills in both artistic expression and commercial awareness. Her innovative approach to design and use of texture has garnered attention, resulting in her being nominated for the Texprint Award in 2016. Lisa's portfolio, which is centered around figurative subjects and colour-focused pieces, showcases her distinctive style and creative flair. Her passion for interiors and colour trends greatly influence her artwork.
Life drawing has always played a pivotal and essential role in Lisa's artistic journey. Lisa's figurative works gracefully evolved and transformed into intimate portraits. These portraits tell stories, capturing not just the physical features but also the profound emotions and unique personalities of each subject, allowing the viewer to be transported into a world of raw human expression and vulnerability.
Lisa’s work has been exhibited in not one, but two remarkable shows over the course of the past couple of years. The first showcase took place in the seaside town of Whitstable in 2021, where Lisa had the honour of exhibiting alongside a talented group of artists, adding her own unique touch to the display. However, it was the following year, in 2022, that Lisa experienced a breakthrough moment in her artistic career. She embarked on her very first solo exhibition at the prestigious Red Eight Gallery, situated within the historic walls of The Royal Exchange. It was a turning point, a stepping stone on Lisa's creative journey that would continue to unfold and blossom in the years to come.
